INEC SCHEDULES 2019 GENERAL ELECTIONS FOR SATURDAY 16TH FEBRUARY AND SATURDAY 2ND MARCH 2019 The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, 16th February, while the Governorship and State Assembly/Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council elections have been scheduled for Saturday, 2nd March 2019. This was disclosed yesterday by the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Prince Solomon Soyebi, at a press briefing held at the Commission’s Headquarters, Abuja. Breaking  News - 2019: GEJ Gives PDP Winning Tips, Vows To Speak On His Electoral Defeat Preparatory to the 2019 general election , former President Goodluck Jonathan has offered what appears to be winning tips to the Peoples Democratic Party. He advised the PDP to adopt statutory delegates ’ option in the next review of its constitution , especially for the state and local government primaries. Jonathan gave the advice when he received a delegation of the former Speakers of House of Assemblies elected on the platform of the party in his office in Abuja on Thursday . He noted that one of the major challenges facing PDP is how it elects candidates and national officers. He said there would always be crisis in the outcome of the party ’s primaries or conventions until the numbers of statutory delegates to those elections are reviewed to about 70 per cent. Osun Loses 75 Percent Of August 2017 Allocation To Deductions By Olabode Abolaji The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said 11 states lost a huge part of their August 2017 allocation to deductions. According to the latest Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) report released by the bureau, a total of N467.85 billion was distributed among the three tiers of government in August. “The amount disbursed comprised of N387.32bn from the statutory account and N80.53billion from valued added tax (VAT). “Federal Government received a total of N193.05billion from the N467.85billion shared. States received a total of N130.69billion and local governments received N98.01billion. “The sum of N31.59billion was shared among the oil producing states as 13 per cent derivation fund.” Eleven states lost more than N1 billion from their allocations, with Lagos being the worst hit. Lagos got a gross allocation of N9.52 billion and lost N2.80 billion to deductions. O...
