WHY PRESIDENT BUHARI DID NOT ATTEND FEC MEETING

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari did not attend Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting because he had ‘other issues’ to attend to, Nigeria’s information minister Lai Mohammed has said. The weekly meeting was chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo though  Buhari was at the Presidential Villa as at 11 am when the council meeting commenced‎. But Mohammed said rumours that the president did not attend the meeting because he was ill again were unfounded. He said Buhari moved to attend to “other issues” because he had confidence in Osinbajo chairing the FEC meeting. “Mr. President is in town; Mr. President is attending to other issues,” Mohammed told State House Correspindents. “He looked at the agenda for the meeting and decided that the vice president should preside. It is not unusual for the vice president to preside over FEC meetings”.
