Paul continues to drive in the fact he has already stated about our identification with Christ death and thereby identifying with everything He is, He did and He has.

This vs 5 confirms what we talked about yesterday(vs 4) about being buried with him and being raised up with newness of life.

Romans 6:5 KJVS
For if we have been PLANTED together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

It says we have been(already done) planted(united together) in his death, and therefore we shall automatically be made united again in his resurrection. Which means, the way our self was identified with Christ in which he became that old self of sin and took the punishment and dispatch it away forever, that same way we became what HE became after RESURRECTION.

The point I will like to emphasize here is that all this are ours through faith( believing in the gospel)

So, you can see we died, but it was God that made us alive, that quickened us!
You were not made alive by morality or your works or your righteousness.
Because it is filthy rag to the Lord!

So, since we are dead, a dead man can't WORK!
He can't do anything by himself. So, we clearly see that salvation is nothing of man's effort but God's effort! God's ability!

So, only the gospel saves! Because only it can birth faith in us for us to believe the Gospel!

So, we were raised to life, to a new nature not by works but by Grace through faith.
Now that we are alive freely by faith without any works! _You and I can now work not to be made alive again because we are already alive_
But we will work because we are now alive forever more and we need to shine the light to men around us!
So, the good works are not for us to be made alive or right with God because Christ already made us right and alive to God. instead, the good works are fruits of being alive!
That's why Paul said, we are born unto it and not by it!

For we are his workmanship, CREATED(already) in Christ Jesus UNTO good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
